Workshops
I design interactive workshops for ensembles, teachers, and organizations seeking collaborative growth and learning.
Workshops may focus on voice or choral conducting or address topics like creative collaboration and artistic leadership.
Workshops are always customized to meet the unique needs of your ensemble or organization.
Sample Workshops
ensembles
Introduction to Vocal Technique: In this group voice lesson, singers with little or no formal voice training learn the basics of efficient singing technique. Through mini-lectures, demonstrations, and active music-making, participants gain knowledge about vocal anatomy, breathing and alignment, registration, and resonance. A menu of effective vocal warm-ups is taught, which can be used in individual practice or ensemble settings.
Mindfulness, Movement, Sound, and Soul: This workshop blends music with contemplation and healing. Activities draw from practices such as Alexander Technique, Laban Movement Theory, vocal toning and improvisation, and yoga to generate opportunities for creative expression, freedom of movement, and release.
Creative Sound Play: In this inclusive workshop, singers experience the freedom and fun of vocal improvisation. By playing with rhythm, tone, emotion, and dynamic, everyone in the circle explores their potential as communicators and creators. Activities include building soundscapes, singing circle songs, creating rhythm circles, and looping.

The Collaborative Rehearsal: In this integrative, practical workshop, conductors and singers experience a dialogical approach to group music-making that increases motivation, ownership, and communication between ensemble members. Participants build musical interpretation and solve technical and expressive problems by using cutting edge, collaborative techniques.
The Power of Reflection: Reflection is a powerful tool for critically examining and transforming our practice as leaders and educators. This session guides leaders through reflective exercises to examine beliefs, relationships, structures, and habits. By coming to a deeper understanding of our values and ourselves we can catalyze transformation in our professional practice.

Appreciative Inquiry Process: This in-depth workshop takes a strengths-oriented and relational approach to organizational innovation based in positive psychology and organizational scholarship. Key stakeholders work together to identify areas of excellent performance, develop a shared vision for the future, design high-impact strategies, and create a specific action plan for achieving their articulated goals.
